Friends of hue switch pairing

Hello!

Iam pretty new to home assistant, i have my setup installed and Iam using the ZBT zigbee antenna. I have a friends of hue switch of busch and jaeger. Its a piezo element switch but how do I enter the pairing mode so it can be detected by my HA? I tried holding 2 top buttons for 15 seconds and also the bottom buttons. And the top left and top right. But nothing happens.

Or is this only pairable with a hue bridge?

Thanks!

So first of all:

In short:

  1. We do not know what version of HA or what install you are on
  2. What version of the ZBT do you have?
  3. Are you running ZHA or Z2M?
  4. What Zigbee channel is used? That will be important when learning in these kind of switches
  5. What EXACT model of switch do you have?

Please read the How to help us post first and then come back and give us some useful info.

Is it this? Instructions here Busch-Jaeger 6735/6736/6737 control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT

Excuse me,

What version of the ZBT do you have?

Iam running 2026.4.4

Are you running ZHA or Z2M?

ZHA

What Zigbee channel is used? That will be important when learning in these kind of switches

Channel 15

What EXACT model of switch do you have?

You will need a “translator” device since the switch isnt actually sending a message that the Zigbee network understands. HUE stuff will work if you have a light fixture nearby to pick up the switch message and translate it to Zigbee/

A list of know working translators (proxies): Zigbee Green Power (z2m)
For ZHA that still seems an issue, but looks like they are testing now. No clue what the progress is since i do not use ZHA myself.

ZHA Green power devices (WTH)

If you are just starting you might want to switch to Z2M for just these kind of things. In my experience there is alot more Z2M support for weird devices then ZHA.

Plus as a bonus you can fire up a Z2M server that runs separate from HA.

Developers are working on ZGP for ZHA right now, see this long open feature request with more informationan about Zigbee Green Power (ZGP) batteryless devices from an end-users perspective, with latest updates and links to status updates in newest posts → ZHA integration support for ZGP (Zigbee Green Power) batteryless devices via zigpy to work with Philips Hue Click, Philips Hue Tap, and “other Friends of Hue” switches?
