I installed the “Electricity Meter Interface 2” from frient two weeks ago, and I’m pretty satisfied with this little gadget.
Well, at least until I recently discovered that it doesn’t register high energy consumption peaks at all. For example, when my washing machine, dishwasher, or electric kettle are running—all devices that consume relatively large amounts of energy—those usages are missed.
I looked at my energy dashboard and was confused by the negative “untracked consumption”:
So, I started examining the logs from the past two weeks and discovered that when I run my dishwasher or washing machine (each equipped with a smart plug), the consumption of these high-consumption devices isn’t tracked by the Electricity Meter Interface 2:
Blue: data from the meter, orange: data from the plug:
Ultimately, I plugged my electric kettle into my smart plug, went to my electric meter, and turned the kettle on remotely:
As you can see, the electric meter recognizes the correct power consumption, and so does the smart plug. Unfortunately, the “Electricity Meter Interface 2” again failed to register it.
When I installed the “Electricity Meter Interface 2,” I had to adjust the unit_of_measure
in the Zigbee settings, as the divisor is 10,000 instead of 1,000. I can’t imagine this would cause such significant discrepancies.
My electric meter is the EDL21 from EMH.
Is there anything I can try to fix this, or should I contact frient?
