From a general Nerd to an ESPHome Nerd, what does this mean in real words

So, not quite sure what this is telling me and If I could improve by doing something here.
Lots of words and I don’t understand the context I guess…
I’ve seen this on all the builds I think, so it’s in the package, so what to change if anything.

Build Excerpt:

INFO ESPHome 2026.9.0

INFO Reading configuration /config/esphome/stairway.yaml…

WARNING ‘ota’ password wastes significant flash and RAM (about 3.5 KB and 60 bytes plus the password on the heap): the device already offers encryption with the ‘api’ encryption key, which authenticates any uploader that takes it, and a password only matters for uploaders without encryption support; remove ‘password’ and add ‘encryption’ under ‘ota’ so uploads use the key and encryption is required

Instead of a separate password for OTA, the recommended method these days (if you’re already using encryption) is to use the API encryption key:

ota:
  - platform: esphome
    encryption:

So trying to sift thru that, I basically

api:
  encryption:
    key: !secret chaloupkaabode_encrypt

ota:
  - platform: esphome
    password: !secret chaloupkaabode_otapw

to

api:
  encryption:
    key: !secret chaloupkaabode_encrypt

ota:
  - platform: esphome
    encryption:

Yeah, I recognised several of the keywords, but it didn’t make much sense to me either :frowning: It’s just the developers with their terse descriptions understandable only to other developers, as a way of forcing mere users to come up to their level. Like reading the super brief and cryptic descriptions in the so called “release notes”.

However I followed the code recommendations and after fixing the errors from three attempts to compile, my project is still working.

What? You mean “bump qxworxy to v1.2.9.8” doesn’t tell you exactly what changed, and how it might impact your installation?
