Gauge: pointer too small in 2026.4.0 (frontend 20260325.5)

I use gauges with pointers extensively and now, since updating today, the pointer is ridiculously small, it was lots better earlier. Also, the coloured arc is too thin. And the labels are just truncated… IMHO gauges are now lots worse than before!

You can switch to Gauge Card Pro.
It has more features and is working fine.

Thanks, it is an option but I still don’t see why the change has been done!

I think the change has been done because the HA-Team continuously want to improve the hole system.

But not everything what they think about is really an improvement, and even if it would be an improvement for the majority, there is still a minority with oposite wishes.

To avoid this I would prefer to implement new features as an option, e.g. an option to choose the thickness of the gauge instead of just making it much smaller. I know that this would make the code more complex.

For my preference it was too thick in past and is too thin now, so I would choose somethink in the middle, but’s that’s my personal preference only.

Beside that every change also has the possibility to introduce new bugs.
That’s why I prefer to wait for 2026.4.3 and do not update to any x.0
Everybody updating to any x.0 should know, it’s a kind of beta test which is also important and helpful for others like me.

Agree, changes are fine if they are optional, but this change has screwed up a number of my dashboards that were perfectly configured for the specific screen size. I now have to deal with the hassle of switching to Gauge Card Pro via HACS (Home Assistant Community Store), and if you are a recent newbie here, that will be confusing for many. This was a bad move by the developers to force the change on people.

Yeah, I also don’t understand the reason for this change. I hope it gets reverted

I’m not expecting them to revert the change.

The bug with the missing line break will be fixed, but the gauge will stay that thin because they think that’s modern.

For me it’s not clear why thick means old and thin means modern but I’m not an UX expert, I just know what I like and what I don’t like.

I also know that an “old” website means you can find everything without scrolling and a “modern” website means even if you scroll around you will not find anything. Maybe that’s the reason why I hate most “modern” styles because they are not really better.

I fed back during the beta my dislike and the fact this would alter every users dashboard layout but they insisted this was the way forward.

It’s crazy, how can on the one hand say you will never break users automations and yet happily implement changes that effectively break users dashboards?

With all the negative feedback (see Reddit as well) the absolute minimum they should do is offer the old gauge card.

In “Their World” it’s currently “Modern”, thou All so called trends/fashions fluctuates , so in less than 5 years Thin might NOT be " The way to Go " … Again , So those who Currently gets “Attracted” to this, so called Modern Look, will eventually get pissed, because Dev’s/ Time will change … Again

Sad thou that Homeassistant Dev’s , Don’t get a grip on the HA Vision, Free Choices and Options, Personalization, Privacy
What current Teams “Cook Together” Now, will be obsolete and un-modern in 5 years.

Thou currently forced upon everyone
