GE 45631 Z-Wave Wireless Keypad Controller

Has anyone added this to their HA? I bought one to hopefully make my Cree bulbs (do not have neutral at light switch) more wife friendly but have not figured out how to incorporate it. It shows up in OZCP but I have no idea what do do with it from there. I tried to install it via Wink as well but it is not a ‘known device’.

And before anyone suggests, I tried playing with the wall mount hadashboard but it continues to be elusive to me and she still wants a physical switch.

I’m having the same issue. I need a physical remote that my wife can use to turn on a few lights. These are lamps that we have in our living room that we use instead of the over head lights. She thinks that taking her phone out and loading Home Assistant takes too long. I tried the z-wave minimote but I can’t seem to get it to work properly.

I just found http://www.electricbargainstores.com/product-p/Lutron-PJ2-4B-GWH-L41.htm?gclid=COzxr9rh6c8CFQkoaQodOrgLYA and I’m looking to see if this will work with Wink.

I would expect at a minimum that the button presses will generate basic node events that HASS can act on. Try pressing a button then looking in the logs for a node_event.

@Jtmoore81 let me know if that works, hell I may order one just to try.

@mezz64 I will see what I can find although I did not see anything yesterday. Should I be looking in the openwave log or HASS log?

Look in the HASS log. Make sure the logging level is set to info and when you press a button on the switch you should see a node_event get logged. You should be able to see the event coming in on the openzwave log as well as long as the level is set low enough.

I received an email back and that remote works on RF and the Wink doesn’t use RF. So it’s a no go.

The problem is more that it is being problematic getting it to pair.

Wink supports the Pico zigbee remote and can be used to directly control a zigbee light or used to trigger Wink shortcuts. The Lutron Pico Connected Bulb remote is available in Home Depot stores

I tried that. It was very easy to pair and hook up the lights. The problem is that there are 3-4 different lights that I need to control independently of each other and the remotes I have found can only turn all connected lights on or off. I can’t turn on the two lamps on the mantle or just the lamp on the side table.

The Pico remote can be set up to trigger shortcuts in Wink. The Pico has four buttons so you can trigger 4 individual shortcuts. If the shortcut turns on 2 lamps then the button you assign to that shortcut will turn off those two lamps.
The Minimote has 8 possible buttons. In HA you can set them up to toggle lamps or groups of lamps. It isn’t difficult to set up.

I’ll try the Pico and the minimote a little more this evening to see if I can get the shortcuts to be setup. I’m sure i’ll be posting questions here if I get stuck.

Thanks!

The minimotes are great and cheap. Just be sure to update their firmware. Also, you have to make a configuration setting to switch them to send scene info. You have to make that change in OZW while the minimote is still awake. IIRC, pressing “learn” every several seconds after adding it to OZW will keep it awake long enough. I have several of these mounted around the house with 3M “velcro” type strips.

Thanks. I’ll try and work on that tonight. I haven’t needed to really do anything in OZW. Is it difficult to get started? Also can the minimote use other technologies like the zigbee lights if it goes through HASS? Or will it only work on zwave technology?

Either way, the minimotes are zwave. I usually add my devices via OZW. It’s not too difficult. Here’s a good intro:

I keep a text file handy with the steps so that I can just cut/paste the various commands rather than remember them.

Cool Thanks. This is what I’m looking for.

One more question. When using the minimote you don’t have to wake it up to select the button\action your looking for do you? You should just be able to hit the button and it works?

The only problem with the Minimote is that it is sometimes difficult to remember all the button functions. But they just work. Really helpful to add simple control anywhere.

Once set up, it’s just a matter of pressing a button. But like @zarthan says, it can sometimes be difficult to remember what each button does. You get 4 buttons. Each button can be tapped for one scene or long-pressed for another. So you get 8 scenes from them.

I use my thermal labeler to make labels for the buttons. Not pretty, but it helps everyone remember what each button does.

Just ordered 2 of the pico remotes. Sure hope that works!

Not having any luck with the Lutron Pico. They install into Wink but then won’t let me assign anything as I do not have any Lutron bulbs it says. I created shortcuts but do not see an option to attach.

I then performed the reset and when to OZW and tried to add and did not see anything in the log.
