Generic thermostat how to correctly configure it?

Hi all,
sorry for this question that could appear too basic, but I cannot get the generic thermostat helper work.

I’ve configured a generic thermostat helper “climate.genthermo” as in those pictures, it uses Broadlink temperature sensor and an output switch to start heating.

Seems temperature is read correctly 21.1 , but even if I set an higher temperature in the UI to 25, the thermostat never switches to “heat” state.

I’ve tried manually to change the state using the modes button down the wheel, and heating correctly starts.

From my point of view, seems it’s missing a the temperature check between input sensor and desired values, that should trigger a mode change from off to heat and vice versa.

What’s wrong with the configuration?
Is this helper working correctly and I’m supposing it should work differently ? Or I’m supposing correctly and there’s something not working correctly ?

Thanks.

With the button on the bottom of your climate card, turn the thermostat to “heat”

Then with temperature control set temp to 25 degrees, so see status changing to “heating “.
Set temp to 20 degrees, you see then status “idle”

What you’re doing now is turning off the thermostat completely (like for instance heating turning off in summer time)

The docs aren’t so clear !
You’re right :+1:t2: thank you!
