First…I Love the generic thermostat. With it I was able to get off my Ecobees! The area where it doesn’t seem to measure up is in making a single thermostat that acts BOTH as Heater and as an AC. I have to define two separate generic thermostats one for each. Then I have to have them both appear as lovelace cards on my home screen.
What device are you switching with?

I have sensors and switches being controlled with Tasmota. I want a single device that can encapsulate the AC switch (2 really but fan can be done with automation) and the heat switch. When in heat mode, switch the heat switch on temp trigger, and when in AC mode, switch the AC switch on temp trigger. IN the HA Generic Thermostat climate device, I am forced to select between heat/AC.
This would be so useful being able to specify both a heat and ac device, would also be great if we could custom name presets
