Hello all
I Hope you are Well.
I have been using Home Assistant Green for a Week now and everything is Working Great.
Regarding Energy Monitoring, is it possible to get the Energy Statistics from the SMETS 2 Smart Meters?
My Energy Provider is British Gas.
I have a Smart Meter for both the Electric and Gas and the Smart Monitor in the Living Room is the Geo.
Thanks in advance
Kevin
Hello
Thanks for the Reply.
Unfortunately, I do not think this will Help me.
Home Assistant seems to have a Component Built In for Octopus Energy but there is not one for British Gas.
Thanks though

It’s been a while since I set my British Gas feed up for HA but it does work.
I seem to recall you need to register for a Bright account
https://bright.glowmarkt.com/login
And then you can use the Hildebrand Glow (DCC) integration with HA to get the Electric and Gas Feeds.
Thanks
Hello
Thanks for the Reply.
Well, I Created an Account for Bright then Installed the Integration.
The Integration is Showing in Home Assistant, but, how do I see the Statistics?
Thanks in advance
Kevin
Hello
I think I have sorted it.
I had to Setup in the App by entering Details regarding the Smart Monitor.
Home Assistant is now showing Entities but no Data, yet, it says it could take upro 24 Hours, so…
Thanks for your Help, it is appreciated.

No problem. Pleased you got sorted.
It does take a while for the data to update. Once it’s running you can feed it direct into the Energy dashboard.
I think some of the sensors are also disabled. You need to enable them for the rate then you can do the costs etc…
Hello
Sorry for Bothering you.
Well, it has been 3 Days since I set this up and I have very limited Stats as seen here:
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Sorry I got caught up with the holidays.
Did you get sorted with the data?
Mine does populate but it appears to record at random times.
Hello
The Data seems to be few and far between, unfortunately
Also, when it does come through it does not seem to line up with the Data shown in the Bright App which seems weird to me.
I am wondering if it would be beneficial to look at one of the Monitors that provides Real Time Data and has MQTT Support to allow integration with Home Assistant.
Thanks
Kevin
I tried for ages to get the Bright App working with the DCC integration with sketchy random data.
I bought a Hildebrand Glow CAD and its worked perfectly since, uses MQTT and there is a custom component in HA for it
They also do a wired one if you don’t need the display but they only have 160 left:
Hello
Thanks for the Reply and the information, it is appreciated.
I have Ordered a Wired Unit as I do not need the Display.
Is there anything I need to do in order to implement it in Home Assistant, apart from Adding it as a Zigbee Device?
Thanks in advance
Kevin
It doesn’t work with ZigBee to HA. It used a proprietary ZigBee connection to the meters and sends data to HA via MQTT. you’ll need to setup up MQTT on HA if you haven’t already and install the custom component:
Home Assistant integration for local MQTT Hildebrand Glow IHD
Instructions are in that GitHub page
Hello
Thanks for the Reply and the clarification.
I have only been using Home Assistant (Green) for a Couple of Weeks so I am still Learning
I have been using ZHA up till now which is working as expected, however, I currently have no MQTT Devices.
I have installed the necessary Components for MQTT as outlined, in anticipation of receiving the CAD.
I have received No Errors so I am assuming that it is Installed Correctly, hopefully.
Is there anyway to Test MQTT without any MQTT Devices, if that make sense?
Thanks
Kevin
You can install MQTT Explorer in windows and send a test from there.
Make sure you add the custom component as well
Hello
Thanks for the Reply.
I Downloaded MQTT Explorer and Connected, succesfully, to Home Assistant and was able to Send a Test Message.
So, I am assuming MQTT is Working properly.
Thanks for the information
Kevin
Hello
I received my Glow IHD (Wired), finally, the Post Office Lost it
It is all Connected and MQTT is providing Data to the Energy Dashboard.
I have noticed that the Energy Dashboard seems to only be Updating at 12 Minutes Past the Hour so it not showing Realtime, or near to, Data.
Is there anyway to get the Realtime Data to be shown in Home Assistant?
I have tried Creating my own Energy Dashboard, no easy task, I am still learning, however, the new Dashboard has the same behaviour, Updaing once an Hour at 12 Minutes Past the Hour.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Kevin
The energy in the energy dashboard does only update every hour or so. The CAD does have realtime data. If you want realtime data, you can show the entities on a custom dashboard.
Hello
Thanks for the Reply.
I have tried Creating a New Dashboard but it is stiill only Updating every Hour, or so…
On the New Dashboard I am using the ‘Statistics Graph’ Card, one for Electricity and another for Gas, is that the Correct Card to use?
Thanks in advance
Kevin
Just looked at my energy dashboard and the Power Sources Graph updates every 5 minutes. What entities are you using ?
