Globe Electric smartplug with ESP8265 chip how to get ESPHome on it?

picked up recently a Globe Electric smartplug expecting it to run a bekken chip so I can try to flash it with tuya-cloudercutter and eventually ESPhome.

After a few tries that failed I opened it up and surprisingly it has an ESP8285 chip in it and an SK522WR-G4 board.

Based on the above it’s not exploitable by tuya-convert (new board) or tuya-cloudcutter (not a bekken chip).

Anyone have any idea how to get ESP Home on this device (or tasmota?) without soldering? the location of the chip is kinda of a pita to get leads connected.

Thanks

says not easy to do.

if it has an esp on it, it probably can be made to work, but will require soldering and more pictures to give you more of a hope of doing it.

Unless you are up for a challenge, it is probably better to get a board that is known to work easily.

Yeah I saw that that’s why I was saying no dice on tuya convert. Not sure if the picture in the op came through the soldering location is a bit of a pita, might be doable with pogo pins but I have none right now.

Unfortunately it’s one of the few independently controlled dual plug devices I have found that’s a smart plug and not a powerbar, so I had high hopes for it.

If tuya convert doesn’t work, then serial flashing is the way.
You could use this clip here and some dupont cable with blue tacs to hold them in place

Blue tacs is a great idea, I will have to give that a try. As there no way I can get a soldering iron in there.
