Google Assistant and Alexa rooms

I have a Google Assistant and Alexa and 3 lights in a group call kitchen.

When I say “Alexa turn off the kitchen lights” Alexa turns off 3 lights, CORRECT.

When I say “Hey Google turn off the kitchen lights” Google turns off 5 lights. NOT CORRECT

Google turns off the kitchen group plus 2 kitchen LED strips.

Is this by design?

Both Alexa and Ghome you should setup lights in groups within their apps to ensure correct device operated for call.

This means create kitchen group(room) inside google home app and put kitchen lights inside that group. Then do same for all other lights and rooms.

Do same in Alexa app.

If you don’t do this then honestly no telling what will turn off/on when make calls to Google home. Alexa is more strict and does not make intuitive guess but when setup will be more room aware.

Alexa you can say “Alexa, turn on light” and it will turn on lightsnin same group as the echo being operated.
