At some point in 2020, there was an update to HA that caused verbal volume control on my Google Home / Nest to change the volume of my Raspberry Pi Kodi device instead of changing its own volume. This is especially annoying because I don’t even see the point of Kodi having volume control (that’s what my AV unit is for).
I can still control the volume on my Google Home or Nest by touching it, but not with my voice. The only solutions I can think of for now is to either remove the Kodi media_player from my google_assistant.yaml file, which would mean no voice control of Kodi (i.e… play/pause), or to create a Universal Medial Player abstraction, but I worry if this will work and if I’ll create other problems for myself.
