Google Assistant State Reporting (Why?)

Now with 0.100.2 you can report state to Google Assistant for all of your devices, much like with the Alexa integration.
Alexa Routines or whatever they’re called can be triggered by some sensors so this makes sense.
My question is how would this benefit me since Routines cannot be triggered by anything other than a voice command or time.

Now I do know that at some point in recent history Google announced that they’re going to have some Routines that can be triggered by a Smart Home device status, but it almost sounded like it would be exclusive to Nest devices.
I also heard that there will be a provision made by Google for enthusiasts to make their own routines without the rigorous security review (this sounds like how we’re currently making our own Google Actions for some things).
Finally I saw search results that might have eluded that if a device reports it’s state, the assistant can make more intelligent decisions on how to change something based on a voice command, almost like it would work faster somehow.

Perhaps Paulus has been seeing these things and decided to put the time in to getting this working as it will be relevant soon, but not at the moment…?

I found this video.
Timestamped is an example of how it could help. I don’t know that I’ve ever asked for dimming like that.

You pose an excellent question. I will be keeping an eye on this thread, hopefully we will be enlightened.
