Google killed opening the garage

I’ve opened my garage with myq and google for probably a year. Today she started telling me google doesn’t support that. Anyone else see that?

The Amazon Echo has disallowed that for quite a while. It’s a kinda silly security feature, when you think about it. Sure, you don’t want someone outside your place screaming “hey google, open my garage”, but how much does it really help? Many sections of our walls are made from thin sheets of glass. It’s a safe bet that a lawyer demanded the feature.

But it still works with Apple HomeKit. Ask Siri to do it instead. And HomeKit gets you a decent app to go along with the voice control.

Same thing for me. Even closing the garage stopped working with my google routines. But “shut garage” will close it. I did open it once, but can’t get it working again. I might have to go back to using a input Boolean

If you downgrade it works again. It’s gotta be something ha changed…

What version did you downgrade too?

I discovered it still works in 90.2. When linking google to HA, the garage shows up as a switch in Google. Later versions it appears as something else.

Here is a screenshot of my devices imported into Google Assistant from HA 90.2. Note that garage is shown as a switch. After upgrading to 91.0 and unlinking/linking with HA the garage uses the same icon as the circled. Amazon device and GA no longer will control the garage. So the bug got introduced in between those two versions. If someone has the time, could you point the devs to this? I have a busy day tomorrow. Thanks.

yea 90.2 is the last version it worked for me as well.

Great. Thanks for that sounds like tmw we will have an update to fix it.

Or two days…

update is out. I had to remove my google assistant routines, and it seems to work.
