GoPool Variable Speed Pump – local integration for GoPool / GoPiscine pumps (AG1, IG1, IG2)

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share a custom integration I’ve been building with the help of Claude AI for the GoPool / GoPiscine variable-speed pool pumps (AG1, IG1, IG2), the ones that ship with a Tuya Wi-Fi module and are normally controlled through the Smart Life / Tuya Smart app.

About these pumps

GoPool / GoPiscine are variable-speed pool pump lines sold online across Canada. They’re a budget-friendly alternative to the bigger-name variable-speed pumps, and a common upgrade from an older single-speed pump for the energy savings. Under the hood they’re built around a Tuya Wi-Fi module, so they’re controlled through the generic Smart Life app rather than a dedicated manufacturer app, which is also what makes them possible to integrate locally the way this project does.

Why I built this

These pumps use a Tuya Wi-Fi chip, and until now the only way to bring them into Home Assistant was through xZetstubou’s branch of the localTuya integration, which meant manually digging up the device ID, the local key, and a long list of data point IDs via a Tuya IoT developer account. That’s a lot of friction for something that should just work. The official branch of localTuya and tuya-local integrations were not able to detect the pump let along its data point IDs.

This integration automates that whole process: you log in once with your Smart Life account via QR code, it retrieves the device ID and local key for you automatically, and from that point on it talks to the pump entirely on your local network. No cloud involved afterward, and no Tuya developer account needed.

Features

  • Guided easy and quick config flow: no manual lookup of device ID, local key, or data points
  • Fully local polling (every 3 seconds) once set up, with the last known state kept on a one-off failure instead of entities going unavailable
  • Entities: Power and Quick Clean switches, No Load Protection switch, Pump Speed, Quick Clean Speed/Duration, Timeout Duration, and per-stage (1-4) Speed / Duration / Start Time controls
  • Power Draw (W) and Energy (kWh) sensors, computed by the integration itself from the commanded RPM and the pump model chosen at setup
  • Automatic reauthentication if the pump’s local key ever changes (for example if it’s removed and re-added in Smart Life), no need to remove and re-add the integration, the integration just prompts for a fresh QR login
  • Automatic recovery if the pump’s IP address changes (no static IP assigned, router reboot, etc.), plus a manual Reconfigure option under the integration’s device page for fixing it immediately yourself
  • Translated into English, French, Spanish, and Chinese

Requirements

  • Pump already added to the Smart Life app
  • Pump and Home Assistant on the same local subnet
  • Home Assistant 2026.3.0 or newer
  • HACS installed

Installation

Not yet in the HACS default store, so it needs to be added as a custom repository:

Open your Home Assistant instance and open a repository inside the Home Assistant Community Store.

Or manually:

https://github.com/alray31/gopool-pump, category Integration.

Then: Settings → Devices & services → Add integration → GoPool Variable Speed Pump, and follow the guided setup — link your Smart Life account, scan the QR code, then pick your pump from the list.

What you’ll get

Known limitations

  • Tested and calibrated on the AG1 only. IG1/IG2 data points are presumed identical but not yet confirmed in the field, and their Power Draw / Energy sensors show as unavailable until an RPM→Watts calibration curve is added for those models.

If you own an IG1 or IG2 I’d really appreciate your help. See the Contributing section of the integration’s README for what’s needed.

Feedback, bug reports, and pull requests are all welcome on GitHub.
