GPS Tracker Triggers State Unknown When The Person Is Not Home

Hi All!

I recently found out about Xiaomi Integration in Home Assistant Youtube Video

I was so glad I immediately installed Home Assistant on my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server running on a Raspberry Pi 4 using the official docker installation method (Version: core-2021.7.4 - Supervised) using This Guide

I successfully set up the automation described in the first video, to start my vacuum when I leave home, but instead of the State I used the Geolocation of my iPhone (from the iCloud Integration), like so:

I then proceeded to add a second Person’s Geolocation and set up conditions, to only trigger the automation, when both Persons are Away. (I will test this today)

I want to mention, that I have not subscribed to the cloud service of Home Assistant.

I want to set up more zones in the city, like “work”, so I can have automations triggered when a Person leaves work, for example. But I ran into the problem, that while the State is set to Home as soon as a Person is actually home, it turns to Unknown, once the person leaves the house.

What I have tried so far:
Home Assistant companion App, but the Status never changed from “Home”

I hope I mentioned everything important, but if not, I am happy to check further details (the log in the UI did not show any errors).

Thank you!

Hi All,

Scratch that, when I go on the map, I can see the person on the map away from home at roundabout the right location, I assume it’s Unknown, as I have no zone set up for that part of the city just yet.

Update: aaand now it changed to away, without me, doing anything with it, well I am happy with that :see_no_evil::roll_eyes:

Sorry!

Hi, I ended up deleting the iCloud integration, because I kept getting “someone signed in to your Apple ID” mails. I know it’s a bug, but still annoying + whenever I came home, the status didn’t change quick enough to turn the alarm off.

So I decided to try to make Home Assistant App working, but it still doesn’t change to away when I leave. I tried to delete the integration, add it again, also deleted the app, added it again, and all location settings are enabled.

Is it possible, that this feature will only work if I subscribe to the cloud service?

Is there any other way? Preferably, without installing yet another app?

I am also happy to use Google if that works somehow.

I´d appreciate a hint  to have accurate and fast tracking
