I'm new to Home Assistant and I'm trying to limit my grid export during periods when I have to pay for feeding electricity back into the grid. Ideally, I would like to reduce my export to zero while still maximizing self-consumption based on my current household energy usage.
I have Home Assistant set up with a GoodWe inverter integration and a HomeWizard P1 meter. However, I'm having trouble with the export limit settings in the HA app. Sometimes I'm unable to change the export limit percentage and receive an error message. On other occasions, the setting appears to change, but it has no actual effect on the export power.
My inverter model is a GoodWe GW8K-DT.
Has anyone successfully configured this in Home Assistant using a GoodWe DT serie? Do I need to install a GoodWe Smart Meter for export limiting to work correctly, or should it be possible with my current setup?
This sounds like a connectivity issue of the inverter if it is connected via WiFi. What kind of error from where?
Yes your current Home Wizard P1 meter provides real-time data. To tune the export down to 0 is a risk due power peek consumption and reaction time of the sensors/software(automation)
Hi, thanks for replying so quickly. I just see your text now (I was expecting an email when getting a response but I didnt receive any).
The error might have to do with the WiFi connection because the WiFi is not always super stable on the 2nd floor. HA was saying that the action could not be performed. I should use the ethernet cable i guess. However, for the moments i managed to put the slide back to 0% manually nothing was happening. I was still delivering electricity back to the net. I could see that in the Home Wizard app. I think the reason for this problem is that I have a DT-serie inverter and not a hybrid..
Cable connection on the 2nd floor is the best option indeed if the Wi-Fi connection is not stable.
If you are sending a command from HA to the inverted, the inverted needs to be reachable at that moment.
