Groups and the community guide: "How to avoid device ids ..."

When a newbie posts their first (or an early) automation the newbie often has device-ids in the automation and someone responds with a link to the community guide:
"Why and how to avoid device_ids in automations and scripts"

Something missing from that guide is the concept of putting sensors (and maybe other devices) into groups, the idea being that if you have one presence sensor in a room and later decide you need two you can simply add them to the group.

Using groups would also address the concern about devices vs entities, since the group typically forces you to pick the appropriate option.

I am wondering if it would make sense either to update the guide to include a section on groups or start including a second link to something about groups when newbies post automations laden with Device_Ids ?

Community Guides are Wikis... if you think something is missing you can just add it. If you want to get input about changes you are contemplating making to a Community Guide, the best place for that is usually in the Guide's own thread.
