HA app unable to connect to my home assistant server

After some struggles, I have my HA VM accessible using my Apache2 server and its wildcard Let’s Encrypt certificates to direct traffic from ha. to the HA VM. I can access it perfectly via my workstation and my smartphone using Firefox (including the Android version on my Furilabs FLX1s Linux phone).

See How to set up Apache2 to let Let's Encrypt certbot find HA VM? - #25 by garydale for the full discussion on how the community helped me get this working.

What isn’t working is the HA app. This is not a huge deal, as the web browser works fine and the interface seems to work well on a smartphone’s screen However, it is an annoyance.

The app version is 2024.11.4-minimal and was installed from f-droid.

Home Assistant is not designed to run on segmented networks. It doesn’t like it and you are the one that has to wrestle with it to do funky things.
You may want to ask in that thread where you got your network design from to better understand what is happening.
If you don’t understand it, you may not want to be running it… YOU are the support system.
