HA Cloud Integration for Heiman SubG Smoke Alarms

Hey everyone,

As both a Home Assistant enthusiast and a developer at Heiman, I’m excited to share a quick update with you all regarding some new integration work we're doing.

We know some of you are using our Sub-1GHz (SubG) Smoke Alarms and Gateways (the ones often found on Amazon). We’re currently working on an official Cloud Integration to bring these devices into Home Assistant so you can finally get those alerts and sensor states directly in your dashboards.

Why SubG wireless?

1. Extended Whole-Home Coverage: High-penetration radio waves easily reach across multiple floors, providing reliable connectivity even in a 3-story building.
2. Seamless Native Interconnection: Built-in support allows your Smoke, CO, and Heat alarms to talk to each other instantly—if one alarm sounds, they all sound. No hub required.
3. Ultra-Reliable Connectivity: Unlike Wi-Fi, Sub-GHz operates on a quiet, interference-free frequency. It stays connected even if your internet goes down.
   
   
   
   
   

We are currently in the development phase and I would like know if there any experimental users wish to test it before released.

How to use it?

1. install Heiman Home though HACS by clicking the icon below.
   

2. click download and restart your Home Assitant.

3. after reboot, navigate to Integration page and Add Heiman Home integration
   

   

4. install Heiman Home
   

   
   
   
   

5. Click the redirection and login it with Heiman Home account.
   

   

6. grant the permissions with Home Assistant
   

   

7. Authentication Successful
   

   

8. Back to your HA and sync Heiman devices to Home Assistant
   

   
   
   
   
   
   
   

9. Heiman Home Integration has successfully added.

This sounds useful, especially for getting alerts into dashboards. I’ve got a couple of those SubG alarms running, so I’d be interested in trying the integration once there are setup steps available.

One of the progressive vendors addressing a growing market segment for hobbyists that will attract more sales.

Will there be API documentation released, and a local network ONLY version available that does not rely on the Internet other than the initial on-boarding usual for Matter devices?

In the feature, yes, so someone can contributes the code as well. we will try to implement the local network, too, so it doesn’t replies on internet.

The heat alarm is under development, it will has similar functions to smoke alarm

I have an email out to Andy in support, but others here might find the answer useful.

I have the previous generation of alarms (curved top) in our out buildings, are they able to connect to the gateway? Also do the alarms create a mesh or do they need to be in range of the gateway?
