HA-compatible portable air conditioner recommendations (local control)

Do you have a list of HA compatible air conditioners? Preferable devices without internet requirement and those which are available in Germany :slight_smile:

I’m currently looking and e.g. Midea seems nice but it seems they have now many devices working only with Tuya connection (no easy local support as I understand) and then this notice sounds ugly:

Midea has closed the server-side Token APIs in Meiju Cloud and Smarthome Cloud, and we have switch to NetHome Plus cloud Token APIs to add new devices, but these Token API service are expected to be closed successively, which will prevent adding new devices in the future.

On the other hand it is announced to be added to core.

Still it is hard to decide which device to buy. Especially as a not-so-deep-into-HA guy.

That’s interesting… all the Midea units I’ve seen locally in the US are now using Matter over WiFi. We got one of their U-shaped window units last year. It has worked very well and was pretty easy to get set up in HA.

I have a U-shaped one as well and originally I had it set up over matter but it was kind of limited in functionality.

I switched to the Midea AC Lan custom integration and it’s been working great.

Don’t ask me what the differences are because I can’t remember what was added by the Lan integration.

I am using the Midea Air Appliances (LAN) integration for my basement dehumidifier with no issues, but the device model is important. Some newer models are using the Tuya protocol.

Do you know of any list for supported devices for this integration? It seems the readme of it mentions only dehumidifiers?

There are at least three different Midea custom integrations available in HACS.

The one referenced above by @LiQuid_cOOled seems to be mostly aimed at dehumidifiers.

the one I’m using is the Midea AC Lan custom integration. it specifically states it supports AC units - among many other categories of appliances,

there is a third I found in HACS (Midea Smart AC) but I don’t use it so I can’t speak to how well it works. But it claims (even in the name) that it supports AC units locally.

I just know that the Midea AC Lan integration works for my two U-shaped window units from (I think) a couple of years ago. I bought them used but very new from my daughter who moved and didn’t need them anymore so I think they are at most three years old.
