I really hope someone can help me here but I fear that I know the outcome already
This morning I look at my config folder and it looks like this:
My entire config has disappeared. I had a scrips folder with multiple script files, same with automations, etc. The last thing I was doing last night was just general config changes but everything seemed fine. Ironically I was trying to setup the Git Pull HASSIO add-in to get some off-site backups of my config but I couldnât get this to work so bailed and uninstalled the add-on.
The only backup I have is a snapshot I took within HASSIO but this is two weeks old. Is there any way to view the contents of my automations, scripts, etc. from the front end? When I try to edit them I am told that they cannot be edited as they are not in the default script.yaml and automation.yaml files.
The strange thing though is that my config still seems to be working, I have just tested a few automations and they fired. I havenât restarted HASSIO yet. Has anyone seen this before? I also donât understand how anything can still be working when my db is only 4KB so clearly it doesnât contain the usual contents. Have my files been re-located somewhere else?! I have only been using HASSIO since January but it has been so stable compared to what I used to run. This is the first time anything like this has happened. I am running 0.111.3.
I ended up biting the bullet, restarting HASSIO and, unsurprisingly, the config was gone and it booted like a fresh install. I had to restore my snapshot from two weeks ago. I still donât understand what caused it.
Oh well, guess it is a lesson in having backups :-/
True, but then again all possible places HA can act on are very much visible in vscode add-on. If the files are out of the scope of vscode they are also out of the scope of HA.
I have the VSCode add-in too but I have it ânot startedâ and I only keep it as I thought it might be useful one day if I am away from home and for some reason absolutely needed to edit something in my config. It has never happened.
I am just wondering, what are the benefits in using the add-on rather than a separate install of VSCode on a separate PC?
Help. I seem to have run into the same issue, except I have regular backups.
When I use Terminal I see nothing in the config folder, but I can reboot HA without an issue. Thge backups are all there, but there is nothin in the config folder.
I thought I would try to create a test file using VSC, which I called test.yaml, and got the following error message. Hopefully this gives enough clues.
