HA Core 2025.10.2 Update: YAML Editor Syntax Highlighting Missing - How to get it back?

Hello,

Note that I have the Home Assistant Green running Home Assistant Core (Home Assistant OS). After updating Home Assistant Core to version “2025.10.2” that came out today, I noticed that the YAML editor in both the “Automation editor” and “Dashboard editor” no longer displays syntax highlighting, indentation colours, or different colours for comments/values. Everything appears as plain white text.

  • I have tried refreshing the browser (Ctrl+Shift+R) and clearing the cache, but the issue persists.
  • Previously, in all versions that I have had including “2025.10.1”, syntax highlighting worked correctly.
  • Functionality of automations and dashboards seems unaffected; it is purely a visual/UI issue.
  • This affects both automations I am editing and YAML views in dashboards.

“Question / Request:”

  • Am I doing something wrong and can I do anything to get it working right?
  • Is this a known issue in 2025.10.2? Will it be fixed in an upcoming patch?
  • Is there a recommended workaround in the meantime?

Thank you for looking into this!

Hello! I’m experiencing the same problem!

Same for me
What is weird is I have two instances, and updating both, it only happens in one. So it is like there is an incompatiblity with any custom component or so.

Hello,
I experienced the same problem.
I hope this will be fixed soon

A fix is scheduled for Friday from my understanding…

Thanks, see the same and also shortcut for searching stops working
Great it’s fixed quickly

It is still happening after update 2025.10.3
Edit: Now is fixed, after 2 reboots and some time, not sure why

FWIW, yesterday’s update fixed the issue on my system (HA Green unit)

Did you clear your browser cache after the update?
