HA Core -> HA Supervised -> Back to HA Core on my Pi5

Hello guys!

So I’m a newbie with HA. I have been playing with it for a while on my Pi5 and after some unsuccessful installations and setup of ESPHOME + Xiaozhi ball and after looking on some Youtube tutorials I saw that there is another version called “Supervised” and had some more cool features (ESPHome on overview, Store etc.) which I wanted to try and so I installed it. Unfortunately after installing it and realizing that the support is stopping for that and having some broken YAML automation fails (they worked perfectly on Core version), I decided to switch back. So clean installation back again (that happened 2nd Feb 2026). Where in a good surprising way after the finishing of docker installation I got a NEW overview that looked much nicer! And I said nice update. I fixed all my automations and overview looked really nice. So I had a final task. I had another SSD sitting around and wanted it to use it as a main drive for my Pi5. Unfortunately after the immigration I lost the new layout. Core
2026.1.3 Frontend 20260107.2 seems to be the latest and I update in HA doesnt work as this is a docker installation. Can I get some help restoring my new layout? Was it a beta?

Why dont you use HAOS? Common beginners error.
All other things you need probably can run as Addons / Apps.

You’ve mixed three different install types it’s hard to tell.

Docker (container) v. Core v supervised should not give you visual differences except that container does not include the supervisor (in haos) so therefore backup/restore and addons (apps after next version) won’t be there. They’ve already covered supervised comes with no end user support.

(read: with container you’ll be missing lots of things helpful to a newbie ans supervised is not supported.)

That said from supervised >> haos is a simple backup, restore job.

So like previous why not haos. (like supervised but supported)

how did you install your HA “Core” version?

thru Docker or via the command line or some other way…?
