HA Core Upgrade not showing up as available

I’ve been running an HA Green for a couple years.

  • Installation methodHome Assistant OS
  • Core2025.7.0
  • Supervisor2025.06.2
  • Operating System15.2
  • Frontend20250702.0

Core updates have generally been very clean.

Since August 2025, I’ve had a pending update listed for an ESPHome Bluetooth Proxy with BLE_ADV. Because of a repartitioning of the ESP device needed, it strongly recommended a serial update. I had only done that when I did the original install, so I procrastinated. A recent BLE_ADV update finally broke the connectivity, so I updated the atom 5 ESPHome device. However, now the code for the device appears to require ESPHome 2025.8.0 or better. ESPHome integration version appears to be tied to associated HA core. Logs below:

INFO ESPHome 2025.6.3
INFO Reading configuration /config/esphome/esp32-bluetooth proxy-9f7c50.yaml…
Failed config

packages: [source /config/esphome/esp32-bluetooth-proxy-9f7c50.yaml:5]

Failed to load packages. Current ESPHome Version is too old to use this package: 2025.6.3 < 2025.8.0.
esphome.bluetooth-proxy: github://esphome/bluetooth-proxies/esp32-generic/esp32-generic.yaml@main

However, I’m not getting any notification on HA console that a core upgrade is available.

It also appears that there were changes to the ESPHome Device builder usage in the same August time frame. Less clear on that topic.

I’m seeing discussions in the threads for updates well beyond 2025.8.0, but not seeing why I might not be getting notified of those updates any more.

Glad to provide more detail, but not really sure what additional to post on this one.

Hello freesew4502,

Otherwise, if this isn’t working in the UI, try the CLI version. Both are shown here.

Thanks for the insight. Config check was fine. Reboot from hardware link Restart->Advanced->Reboot executed and took quite a bit longer than the normal restart. No surprise there.

And what do you know. HAOS 16.2 and HA Core2025.10.1 shows as available. I’m getting the feeling that I should read these release notes…

Thanks Again,

Bill
