HA freezes after installing addon

Dear All,

After many months of running HA Supervised on a modest Armbian tv box without problems it freezed after installing EspHome addon. I clearly stretched the hardware to much. After rebooting the processor load is going 100%+ and then it freezes. Any CLI attempts fail dearly because of the very short uptime...

I tried to disable integrations by editing core.config_entries on the sd card from Linux but that does not reduce cpu load enough. I really have to prevent some or more addon's at boot to make the box accessible again. Is there a any addon config file I can edit? Managing addons from cli is not possible.

I am aware of the fact that the hardware I am using now is way inadequate but I really would like to bring it back to life for the moment!

Any help or suggestions please!

Regards,

Peter

The easiest way would be to do a fresh install and restore a backup from before adding esphome.

But really far better to buy a mini pc and install on that. Plenty of cheap second hand stuff on eBay. But I guess you know that.

Do you mean the ESPHome device builder app? I don't think you need that to run ESPHome - I'm far from expert, but perhaps the devices could be configured using another machine?

If you are running an old version of supervised, you may need libraries for that App that are not available in your version of the OS. Could be your Python version, or something else, but I would look there.
Also consider getting off the deprecated install and go with something current if you want to use current Apps. Otherwise stick with things released around the time of your current version.

Dear fellow HA enthusiasts,

Many thanks for your very useful replies! I'll keep you posted!
