Hello I am new to HA and purchased HA Green to get started quickly. I seem to be having lots of issues. There are many options I don’t, some basic tasks like setting sensors don’t work. just seems very quirky. Beginning to think is just needs to be reinstalled. anybody have any suggestions?
Please show examples of things that are not working.

Examples of Issues Encountered:
- In Settings → People → Users, there is no option to set a default dashboard.
- In Settings → Dashboards, there’s no menu to switch a dashboard from YAML to UI mode or vice versa.
- Attempting to navigate directly to a specific dashboard always defaults back to the Overview screen, despite having explicitly set a different default dashboard.
- Sensor states frequently show as “unavailable,” even after following all recommended troubleshooting steps.
- Menus and configuration options referenced in documentation and ChatGPT guidance are often missing or inconsistent with what I see in my interface.
Overall, even simple tasks are taking hours to resolve due to unexpected behavior and inconsistent UI elements. While I’m new to Home Assistant, I’m technically inclined and generally intuitive with smart home platforms. At this point, I’m wondering if the installation that shipped with my device may be corrupted or incomplete.
That’s set in the profile of the user. Lower left corner, click your user icon. That setting does not reside in Settings → People → Users.
That’s only on the dashboard itself. When in a dashboard, take control, then 3 dots (upper right corner) → edit dashboard. It will be in yaml.
There is no other swap to yaml mode options.
Can you provide an example for this? I’m unable to replicate this.
Which sensors? Unavailable is hardware/integration dependent. You’ll likely need to create a forum post and request help for this one.
Which menu configuration options? The documentation is up to date with the current version of software.
ChatGPT is frequently wrong, do not trust it as a beginner. If it gives you information and you can’t find it, it’s likely wrong. AI is not a magic bullet regardless what “expert AI users” say. We actually ban the use of AI on the forums for that very reason. It frequently hallucinates settings and configuration options that simply do not exist.
All these issues appear to be related to this. I recommend asking pointed questions on the forums for further help but there’s nothing in your post that indicates your installation is corrupt.

I am trying to setup a kiosk on IPAD and log in with a guest account. I created a guest user. So you are saying I need to login as the guest user and set the default dashboard that way?

i logged into HA as guest and set the default dashboard.
on iPAD via safari i navigated to homaeassist/lovelace/guest dashboard and logged in as guest
still defaults me to the overview screen
default dashboard is set per user, per device.
