Hello everyone, I have just installed HA on my Dell Wyse 3040, and my problem is that I cann’t install enything because there is only 1,8GB of free space. Do you know maybe if it is possible to remove something in system? Dell Wyse 3040 has only 8GB disk storage and it’s impossible to expand. I’ve tried to move to usb disk but then there are some issues and HA doesn’t start. I wonder if the best way is sell Wyse 3040?
8GB is too little. 32GB is the official minimum (which is on the lesser side if you ask me).
Yep buy something else, there are plenty of thin clients like that that you can upgrade easily.
This is a good resource, to find out about the thin client before buying, if you want something cheap that will work.
I have been running HA and some other stuff on an HP T630 for probably the last 5 years.
Parkytowers is indeed a very important source for information. Be aware that alternative -better- devices (faster CPU, more flash/ RAM) might already be cheaper than trying to shoehorn more storage into this particular device, even if you could do it (USB is always possible, but…).
32 GB is the stated minimum, for very-very limited usage you might still get away with 16 GB, but 8 GB really isn’t enough - and if you buy something, a few bucks more on 64- or 128 GB is well spent (even if you don’t need it, yet, your expectations might change quickly - and once you add esphome builder or frigate or …, you really need it (or even more)).
Ok guys, finally I bought SSD Disk 64GB - connect via usb port and now everything is fine. If anyone has Wyse 3040 and is wondering about HA I can confirm - it works quite smooth. Thanks.
