I would like to add myself to the user testing group if possible. Im a general contractor who finally got to build my dream house and now working on the home automation aspects. I would love to understand HA better and suggest products to clients and put in my flips.

Is it possible to be added to your test group? I have 2 POE Android tablets that I purchased through the same source. One tablet is 10’ and the other is the 15’ model. Both tablets have Thread and Matter installed. Both tablets have the LED light bar all the way around the side edge of them. I understand that can be configured through the MQTT setting.
I have gotten my feet wet with Home Assistant a few years back. I purchased these tablets in hopes to install the HA OS directly on them rather then purchasing any more hardware. Both are POE Android tablets but I had the power cord provided as well.
My current smart home setup is using the individual apps to control everything. My partner is not impressed based on him having to download another app to control 1 or 2 devices. HA will fix all of that.

Hi everyone. I’m pleased to be part of the test group. I haven’t thoroughly tested it yet, but I can definitely say it’s going to stay with me, as it’s the best wall panel I’ve had so far.
The most important advantage is the performance – no lag whatsoever. There’s no constant home‑page reloading after the screen wakes. My previous dashboard was a Lenovo Tab M10, which had some nice features like a proximity sensor and a camera, but it was noticeably less responsive. The home page kept reloading after waking up, regardless of whether I used Fully Kiosk or the companion app.
I also experimented with one of those Chinese PoE tablets with poor specifications – it was a complete disaster.
I’m still working on adjusting my dashboards to the new device, especially since it’s 8" and my previous one was 10". It’s looking very promising.

I came across this yesterday and I can’t wait to be able to purchase it, looks perfectly tailored to Home Assistant. Currently using a FireOS tablet which has it’s quirks with crashing. I’ve had a tablet with the RK3576, but with my dashboard and all of it’s custom cards it did not perform that well anymore, so I’m curious to see if this will hold up.

A question that I’ve got regularly is: what actually makes Wallpanel OS different from Android running on a standard tablet?
Wallpanel OS is still based on Android 14/AOSP, and the device is not locked to a single application. APKs and F-Droid apps can still be installed. The main difference is what the operating system prioritizes.
A consumer tablet is designed to conserve battery power. Android may throttle background tasks, reclaim page resources and reduce application activity when the screen is turned off.
A permanently installed wall panel has a different workload. It is continuously powered through PoE or DC and spends most of its time displaying one Home Assistant dashboard. In this scenario, responsiveness, predictable behavior and instant readiness are more important than extending battery life.
What changed in Wallpanel OS 0.0.7?
- Wallpanel OS now uses a custom emel.tech System WebView, built directly from Chromium source and currently based on Chromium 150.0.7871.181.
- Chromium no longer automatically freezes the dashboard’s background task queues. JavaScript timers and the Home Assistant WebSocket connection can remain active while the screen is off.
- Dashboard resources are kept in memory longer, reducing the amount of work required when the display wakes up.
- The Android Power HAL now reacts to touch input, rendering activity and frame-time feedback.
- The foreground application can receive a temporary, adaptive CPU, GPU and memory performance boost when the dashboard actually needs it.
This is not overclocking or a permanent “maximum performance” mode. The boost is extended only while the workload remains high and is removed when the dashboard becomes idle again.
Development test results
In a practical test involving dashboard switching, WebView content, multimedia and a demanding Windy map:

These results come from a development test rather than a universal benchmark, so the exact numbers will depend on the dashboard and hardware. However, the improvement in frame pacing and responsiveness is clearly noticeable in everyday use.
The Wallpanel OS 0.0.7 OTA update containing these changes is now ready and can be installed using the built-in system updater.

Color me interested: Home assistant, SIP client and PoE = exactly what I think I need (still have to test old comms-box wiring, but I think I ran ethernet cables to my central box).
Would love to see some video of a working HA dashboard before I purchase a few of these (and, without meaning any offense, how can I trust to receive the panels once I sent the money

I completely understand. Wallpanel is still a relatively new product and emel.tech is not a large, well-known brand yet but I have already shipped Wallpanels to customers and smart-home installers in several European countries, and the number of orders has been growing steadily.
