HA to "listen" to IR codes?

Morning All,

As odd as it sounds I migrated from android (using tasker) to HA. In tasker I was able to use a generic media remote (like this one), to trigger macros and tasks.

The reason I did this is I had a cheap Chinese security system (with motion sensors, door sensors etc) that could push ir codes.

This made them alot more “smart”. I could set it up so that if motion was detected it would send “vol +” to my android server, in turn tasker would then send a pushbullet notification to me (if I was not connected to the home wifi) saying “You’re not at home and there was motion detected in the Living Room”.

I can keep the android server for this purpose but I would like to migrate fully if possible. So can the “standard” installation of HA “listen” for IR commands if a dongle is plugged in?

I’ve seen some details on LIRC but seems to be this is for Hasbian and not the “standard” HA installation. I appreciate it’s still Linux but I don’t know how ‘stripped down’ it is and even if I did I’m not the best with Linux.
