Ok, this is my first post, and I am totally new to the home automation setup. So I am confused to say the least.
I downloaded home assistant on my ubuntu system running docker. The system is up and running. I have 2 power strips made by geeni, and from what I have seen I can use the tuya app, and the HA will use my Tuya username and password.
However I cannot figure out where to enter the username and password. I entered the information in the configuration.yaml file, and restarted the system, but i dont see anything that looks new, or what to do after adding the username and password to the configuration.yaml file. Can anyone help me understand this process.
After you add the tuya component to your configuration it should show up as a switch in your states menu. Once you can see it you just add it into your frontend.
After I add the information to the file, do I have to reboot the server, or just HA?I’ll post my confirmation.yaml to make sure I have everything entered right. Do I need a MQTT broker or anything for it to work?
Note the spacing - username/password/country_code are ALL indented 2 spaces. This is essential.
Your version of the above should work assuming
a) you have tuya smart app running on a phone, and your powerstrips controlled from it.
b) the devices are correctly supported by the tuya integration in HA - not all devices are.
Update configuration.yaml appropriately, and restart HA.
leave it for a couple of minutes (to allow the integration to initialise) and then as forsquirel states, check the states menu:
