Greetings. I am new to home assistant but not to home automation. I am running HA on a raspberry Pi 4. Here are the details of the install under about: Home Assistant OS; Core 2-26.6.3; Supervisor 2026.06.1; OS 17.3; Frontend 202060527.6.
I have a handful of matter devices in Apple Home connected via Apple TV and the remainder connected through a smart things hub. When I first launched HA it had discovered about 20 items but it did not discover my Level Lock (the primary subject of this post) which is one of the devices I have connected to Apple Home.
In HA, I navigate to Setting->Devices& Services I choose Add Integration and search for ‘level’. I click on the arrow when then says “Add Matter device”. I am prompted with “Is your device already added to another Matter controller?” which I choose Yes (since its connected to the Apple TV acting as an Apple Home server). I then choose “Apple Home”. I then follow the instructions to find the code when I “Turn on Pairing Mode” on the device in Apple Home. I enter the Setup Code provided and click Add Device. After a few seconds I get a popup at the bottom of the screen that says “Failed to add Device”.
I have tried this several times after rebooting both HA and the Apple Home server. The lock is alive and shows up both in Apple Home and the Level App. I would appreciate any help in debugging further or work arounds.
