HA unavailable through 4G (mobile data) - [SOLVED]

For some reason I am unable to access my HA instance with mobile data. I have DuckDNS and I can access it from other wifi (remotely).
While trying with a VPN (wireguard that’s setup with HA, it also doesn’t work).
Neither the App or Web versions open and I have no clue on what to do.
Help?

Hi, so you can access HA from a remote network with a desktop system and a browser, without using a VPN?

Here are the access scenarios:

LAN with IP - works
LAN with duckdns url - works
Remote wifi/network (but not 4G/cellular) with duckdns url (my girlfriends house, coffeeshop etc) - works
4G data with app accessed with duckdns url - Do not work
4G data with with web duckdns url - Do not work
VPN on - Do not work (VPN was setup with HA and not with a different server)
4G Hotspot on my computer - Do not work

Cellular carriers use CGNAT which is incompatible with dynamic dns services like DuckDNS.

I’m really not familiar with this, but after reading somethings It seams that CGNAT causes problems because this might make many devices use the same IP, is that right? I tried changing my APN protocol to IPV6 only and this didn’t work either.
Also we discussed my case in a reddit thread and it looks like my carrier is actively blocking the usage of external DNS.

Any idea on how to make this work? It used to a couple of days/weeks ago (not really sure when it happened but not too long ago)

With CGNAT a provider puts multiple users behind 1 public IP.
It makes sense that DNS services cannot work since you and many other users are on the same IP.

I wonder if Tailscale can be an option…

Just installed Tailscale following this video and its working. I accessed it with my tailscale IP:8123, not with my local ip, but this can’t be a long term solution…

Well, I got this working using cloudflare following this tutorial and I bought a mydomain.loan from cloudflare directly (that was pretty cheap, USD 3.15 per year). Now I believe I have the best of all worlds!
