I have been running Home Assistant (HASS OS) on a VM in Proxmox for multiple years. I was always able to upgrade HASS OS and so on, no issues (at least no big issues). I did have an issue recently (a week or two ago) where my ZFS volume running full and HA was not responding. After clearing up some old unused backups and a reboot of the VM the system started working properly again.
Yesterday I played with a new SMLight dual radio and installed new addons for Matter and Thread, but I could not get the configuration working into adapting a new Tado thermostat. I went to bed and this morning HA was not responsive.
What I tried:
- Rebooting the VM
- Rebooting the Proxmox client
- Restoring a Proxmox VM backup (both yesterday + two days back + seven days back) and starting the VM again
- Through the Proxmox console tried restarting HA with safe mode (error: another job is running for job group home_assisstant_core)
- Through the Proxmox console tried to stop addons (apps) or uninstall them
- Creating new VM (with Proxmox helper scripts) and uploading my Nabu casa backup and restoring that one
After every reboot I get a small window of an online system, but that takes maybe a few seconds and to little time to login and view log files. I tried viewing log files, but that is difficult with the Proxmox console. And I’m not sure which log files to check exactly actually.
I’m able to open the Proxmox console and execute commands, but up until now I’m not able to get anywhere that the system is responding again through the web interface.
My Nabu casa remote access is not available anymore. Going to the internal IP:8123 is timing out.
My gut feeling is that there is something wrong with the core data or database, since recovering a backup is giving me the same issues. Even restoring the nabu casa backup (with addons (the new ‘app’)) is NOT starting after the recovery is done.
At the moment of writing I’m recovering a second new VM with less addons thay might work, but I’m not sure if that is doing any good.
Reply possible in dutch as well
Thank in advance!
