It would be useful to be able to use HA Voice in “intercom” or “push to talk” mode. When pressing the button or after a specific command like “broadcast the following to room X”, just stream the recorded audio to other HA Voice devices (one or multiple) as-is without any extra delays or speech recognition.
Use case - a way to quickly communicate between rooms of a house that’s superior to yelling.

Any updates on this? I feel like this is a massive missing feature here. Live 2 way audio between two HA voice device would be amazing. I can get my PE to broadcast a message on another PE but no live 2 way intercom yet.
Yes, intercom would be an excellent feature, not just within the house, but outside in the garage, greenhouse, etc.
Plus, it would make a really excellent gate intercom too (in a suitable enclosure). I’ve been wondering how to hack this with existing modules / features, but a purpose-built feature would be excellent.
Yes, please do intercom. I’m currently using Amazon Echo Dot devices for that (Drop-In feature) but I would gladly throw them away in favor of local devices that don’t train their AI on my private conversations.
