HA Voice - wake word not working

Hi,

I’ve set up HA Voice with the Hey Jarvis wake word but it doesn’t seem to respond or wake. Do I need to ‘train’ it somehow or is there something else I am missing?

Hi Steven,

Does it wake for the other wake word options? Also, what does your Assist configuration look like? Do you have more than 1 Assistant setup & what speech-to-text & text-to-speech systems do you use?

I was having similar issues with my HA Voice when I using whisper & piper locally. As soon as i switched to Home Assistant Cloud for both stt & tts everything performed much better for me.

Cheers
Nick

Thanks, it responds to “Hey Mycroft” OK but its not the one I’d like to use. Hey Jarvis works every now and then but its unusable in reality, perhaps it is the way I am saying it, but I’ve tried several different ways of saying the same thing without success.

I have two HA Voice, neither likes Hey Jarvis for some reason. Looking at the assist configuration, I am using home assistant cloud:

PS: “Hey Jarvis” works, but only if I use TTS!

I have a similar behaviour. My (local) TTS/STT stack is not yet set up (just playing around with the HA Voice Preview Edition). While “Okay Nabu” or “Hey Mycroft” always trigger the wake word, “Hey Jarvis” only works once and then stops working. Only if I change the wake word away from “Hey Jarvis” and back to “Hey Jarvis”, it works again.
To me, it should always trigger the wake word, no matter, if the full STT/TTS chain has been set up (its otherwise bad UX).
Lets see, if fully setting up the voice assistant with a properly configured STT/TTS chain will fix it.

Thanks, that is what I am experiencing. It works once and then stops working. I am using hey Mycroft for now but would like to use Jarvis if I can get it working.

Just adding my comments to this, I cannot get Hey Jarvis to work at all, OK Nabu and Hey Mycroft work every time.

I trained my own wake word over about a six-hour period which works fine with the Pi assistant I built. It’s a pity we can’t use our own wake words, but I am sure that will come eventually
