HA Yellow with CM5 and 16GB of RAM

Hi I just upgraded my HA Yellow from CM4 with 8GB of RAM to CM5 with 16GB of RAM.

Followed the guides and installed the HA OS again.

Everything seems to work fine expect the HA Yellow can only see 8GB of RAM.

Is this a HA OS limitation, a HA Yellow limitation or have I missed to configure something?

Hi! I just did the exact same upgrade today — moved from a Raspberry Pi 5 to a HA Yellow with a CM5 (16GB RAM). Like you, everything went smoothly, but I also noticed that Home Assistant OS only detects 8GB of RAM.

I’m wondering the same: is it a limitation of HA OS or something specific to the HA Yellow hardware?

Also, a side note: compared to the RPi5 (which averaged around 56°C in my case), the CM5 inside the HA Yellow enclosure — without any active cooling — runs slightly hotter, around 60°C on average. That plastic case really traps the heat.

I’m open to any suggestions on how to get the system to recognize the full RAM.

Nice to hear I am not the only one with this isssue!
CM5 temperature is 10 degrees higher than CM4 here as well!

There is a fix for that. Just run : ha os update --version 15.3.dev20250506 And you are ready for 16GB :slight_smile:
