HACS installation error

Hello, im trying to install HACS on Home Assistant Green, following the instructions at Downloading HACS - HACS
for OS/Supervised download after meeting the prerequisites and clearing browser cache.

When clicking on the provided “my link” I get the following message in the home assistant web interface:

" Missing add-on repository
The addon ‘cb646a50_get’ is a part of the add-on repository ‘GitHub - hacs/addons’, this repository is missing on your system, do you want to add that now?"

After clicking ADD, there is a message Add-on not found, and nothing else.

Hello rich_11,

Not exactly sure, but it sounds like a DNS problem where it cannot get to the internet to retrieve the file.

Logs may help someone find a better cause.

I suggest asking here, though… HACS Discord

thanks, that possibly could be it.

Hey @rich_11,

I was facing the exact same problem. Were you able to find a solution to it?

The same problem

I solved this problem; in my case, it was caused by an outdated supervisor in a freshly installed Home Assistant – updating the supervisor fixed the problem and allowed me to install HACS.

I solve this from settings–> Apps → Install app → 3dots → Repositories → paste “GitHub - hacs/addons” → +Add and close.
then you can Install it as app!

I can confirm that this solution works for me. Thank you!

Thanks a lot !

I have the error mentioned above too and your method works.

Which begs the question - why isn’t it on the HACS installation page?

Feb 2026 - This worked for me, thanks!

Yeap  Thanks!
