HAGHS new beta release v2.4.0b1 - looking for testers

Hey there,
HAGHS v2.4.0b1 is out as a pre-release, and I could use a few testers before it goes stable.

What is in it: the application score now counts open repairs (5 points each, capped at 10, and the score is capped at 99 while any repair is open), every missing score point is explained through new attributes and two new flags, dead devices get their own list, recommendation texts are now translated, and entities without an entity-registry entry (YAML template sensors, Utility Meter and friends) no longer count as zombies.

Two things change for existing installations:

  1. Zombies are now detected after 5 minutes instead of 15. That was a deliberate default change and also applies to installations that never set a custom value. If you want the old window, set the zombie grace period to 15 minutes in the integration options.
  2. If your host has no PSI support and you never configured CPU/RAM fallback sensors, setup now stops with a fallback_missing repair until you configure them, instead of quietly treating missing values as 0 % load. This also applies when only one of the two sensors is set.

What I would like you to look at:

  • Repair issues: do they affect the score as described, with the rec_repairs flag and the repairs attribute?
  • Zombie detection with the new 5-minute default: too aggressive on your instance?
  • Instances with YAML template sensors or other entities without a registry entry: do they stay out of the zombie count, and does the score rise as expected?
  • Recommendation texts in your language: readable, or does something fall back to English that should not?
  • Dead device detection on instances with sleeping devices.

How to get the beta in HACS:

  1. Open HACS, go to HAGHS, open the three-dot menu at the top right and choose Redownload.
  2. Turn on “Show beta versions” in that dialog and pick v2.4.0b1 (if your HACS version does not show the toggle, use “Need a different version?” and select v2.4.0b1 from the list).
  3. Download, then restart Home Assistant so the new code is loaded.

one more thing…
While you are testing: the v1.3 dashboard cards (Lite and Pro) already work with this beta, but they are not part of a release yet. Right now they only live in the README on the dev branch. If you want to try them, copy the YAML from there into the raw configuration editor of your dashboard:

Feedback on the cards is very welcome: does every status line show the number you expect, do the deep links (updates, entities, repairs, integrations, devices) land where you think they should, and does everything render cleanly, or do you see links as plain text, a monospace block of HTML, or lines running into each other? Please add your theme, and a screenshot if something looks wrong.

Thanks

For now I’ve uninstalled it as I have some clean-up to do. Not sure if it was because I have an external MariaDB DB but the power pull on my GMKTek M5 Ultra almost doubled. I was using the dashboard cards.

Hey thanks a lot for reporting this with a graph, that’s really helpful. A few questions so I can narrow it down: Which HA version and install type, roughly how many entities, and was a dashboard with the HAGHS cards open during that time (for example on a wall tablet)? Did you use HAGHS before this beta, and if so, did you see the same with v2.3.0? If you find the time later: running HAGHS for 30 minutes without the cards would tell us whether it’s the integration or the cards. And where does your MariaDB run, on the same machine?

I’ll do this for you tomorrow. I’m not near my laptop at the moment :+1:

MariaDB is on the same machine.

Hey Neil, just a quick catch up, do you have any information you wanted to share with me about your issue?
