The latest HAOS update to 16.0 lists including eeprom update capability in the release notes. I have a pi5 and have never bothered to update my eeprom as it hasn’t been critical. Can anyone comment on if this release will break anything and what steps I need to take after update given the inclusion of eeprom firmware in the OS?
Currently only the tools are installed which allow updates, but no automatic updates are run just yet. We still work and evaluate how we are going to exactly deploy updates of the EEPROM. So in the current HAOS 16.0, HAOS does not touch the EEPROM.
Are they installed by default? Or does it require configuration? I do not see the tools after an update from 15.2 to 16.0. Neither the vcgencmd or rpi tools.
I’m using an CM5 on a Raspberry dev board/enclosure.
How do you access the shell?
They are installed on the host OS, the Web Terminal/SSH add-on does not give you access to the underlying OS shell.
Ah, good point. Using SSH on port 22, but I guess I need to access via 22222
Thank you for your answer. So nothing will break with 16.0. I have access to the host through ssh but it doesn’t seem like there is any urgency about updating the eeprom and eventually HAOS will gracefully handle it on a future update. Thanks again!
My Home Assistant Yellow started to just turn off at times. Some threads point to the CM5 firmware, so I would want to upgrade it. Can you point me in the right direction of how to do this without reinstalling Home Assistant?
