I’m a home assistant newbie. I’ve got a recent (less than a month old) install:
Raspberry Pi 3B
Home Assistant OS (installed following the Raspberry Pi HAOS guide on the HA web site)
Settings->System->About shows this:
Home Assistant 2023.1.7
Supervisor 2023.01.1 Operating System 9.4
Frontend 20230110.0 - latest
Settings->System->Updates says there are no updates, even if I force a refresh. The system has not been updated at all since I installed it.
I’ve tried updating from the CLI
ha core update
ha os update
ha su update
all say that the latest version is already installed
ha available-updates gives me this:
ERRO[0000] Unexpected server response. Status code: 403
Unexpected server response. Status code: 403
I’ve spent a few hours searching google and the forums for solutions with no luck. I’ve exhausted my ability to troubleshoot this without assistance. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to investigate this?
Well that’s embarrassing! I was looking at the release notes on GitHub and saw more recent versions - but now I see that those are pre-release versions.
I’m still a little concerned about that 403 error - is that a problem?
Edit: It looks like my system has in fact updated since I installed it. I guess it’s just updating automatically rather than notifying me to start the update manually.
Did you set to auto update, because I get notifications (little orange ball next to “Settings” in the left panel). Clicking on which show the updates where I can click to review the release notes before initiating the update and I have make a “Backup” before starting the download/update/auto restart.
I don’t recall seeing an auto-update option, and can’t find one now, so I don’t know. I’d probably prefer not having auto-updates so I can check the release notes first for breaking changes, and do the update when I have a bit of time to deal with any fallout.
It looks like a Core update is scheduled for next week. I think I’ll just sit tight and see what happens. I suspect all is well, and I’ve just got myself a bit confused!
