HAOS VM on external NVMe vs internal drive - Performance?

I recently moved my HAOS install to a Mac Mini using VMware Fusion. The VM is sitting on a Thunderbolt 3 external NVMe. Would I experience any noticeable performance gains by keeping the VM directly on the internal storage?

I doubt you could tell the difference.

For quite some time I run HAA as VM in ESX using iSCSI connection to my Synology NAS as dataastore over 1Gbe LAN (so 40x slower). Then, for stability - had some LAN issues, I moved my VM to server’s internal datastore on NVMe and to be honest difference is negligible.

This was helpful, @mirekmal. Thank you!
