Just received a Haozee moisture/temperature sensor and while it setup easily it does not seem to function properly. The reported values don’t seem correct. They do change, both temperature and humidity, over long periods but so far they don’t seem to reflect reality. The initial temperature reading while it was in the house seemed reasonable but after relocating to my greenhouse it maintained the same reading for a long period, 15 minutes or more. The ‘humidity’ reading was 15% when inserted into soil that my manual probe showed was quite wet.
Not sure if this is a problem but the Zigbee visualization map shows no line connecting it to my HA-Yellow Zigbee Zigbee radio. All of the other Zigbee devices show some kind of line, however faint, to the hub.
The temperature reading right now is within a few degrees of both my mechanical dial thermometer and my ESP 8266 Dallas probe. The ‘humidity’ is at 11%, which doesn’t seem correct.
I tried putting it in a container of water which to my way of thinking should indicate 100% saturation but it never updated after 15 minutes. It is back in the plant container soil now but has still not updated.
Update: This performance seems to have been due to poor ZigBee connection. I have since placed a ZigBee controlled A/C plug with ZigBee routing capability in near vicinity. The odd thing is that I already had one of these plugs in a different location that is geographically closer than the HA Yellow box but the probe did not connect there. Now both plugs form a triangular connection to the host and the probe is connected to the nearest plug/router and is working properly.
