Hi,
I’m currently running HAOS on a Pi 4B and it has been running well, but after doing a fair amount of research, I’m decided to expand into the world of Zigbee - apologies in advance if my terminology or understanding isn’t quite there yet!
After doing research with Z2M, I’m asking for hardware recommendations for expanding (or changing) my current set up. I’ve already bought an MR1 as a co-ordinator and some Zigbee devices, but I’m hesitating on the base hardware to run the software on - especially as I like to make things a little futureproof (camera streams etc).
As I work away a lot, I’d like the system to be pretty foolproof/redundant so my family can continue using basic functions even if the internet/HAOS/Z2M goes down - Wall switches able to be dumb, zigbee binding between devices etc.
Currently my options are:
Option 1:
- Keep HAOS running on Pi 4B
- Get a Pi 5 with an M.2 running Docker for Z2M and Mosquitto
Option 2:
- Keep HAOS running on Pi 4B
- Get an N100 running Docker for Z2M and Mosquitto
Option 3:
- Get an N100 to run everything in containers on the same machine.
It’ll all be a challenge as I’m diving into something new, but I’d love to hear what you’re all running and which way you think I should go!
Thanks in advance!
