Hardware for DSMR readout

Hi

I’m living in the Netherlands and have a ‘slimme meter’ installed.
Currently I have a usb cable connect to my rpi that runs HA and I can read power consumption and returned power and gas. (V5).

I see you can buy this device for DSMR.

What is the added value to have this extra hardware for my situation?

  • higher update frequency?
  • cache data in case rpi/HA is offline?

Should I buy this or no added value for my situation?

I use almost a year now the “Slimme Meter (DSMR P1)” developed by Roel van Wanrooy, and it works great.
