Hi everyone,
I’m trying to include Fakro ZWP10 remote controls into my existing Home Assistant Z-Wave network, but I’m consistently getting stuck during the inclusion interview process.
My Setup:
-
Controller: Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro
-
Integration: Home Assistant with Z-Wave JS UI (Z-Wave JS)
-
Devices: Fakro Z-Wave windows and blinds (already successfully included and working)
-
Remotes: Fakro ZWP10 (Manufactured ~2015/2016, PCB printed with
ZWPv4.2)
I can initiate inclusion, but the process always gets permanently stuck at the “Command Classes” stage (sometimes displaying a progress percentage).
Crucially, the interview never completes far enough to read the remote’s Manufacturer ID or Device ID, so it remains permanently listed as an Unknown Device (Node status: Alive or Asleep, depending on timeouts).

What I Have Already Tried / Ruled Out:
To save everyone time, here is what I have already tested and verified:
-
Distance & Interference: Tested inclusion directly next to the Aeotec Z-Stick to rule out mesh routing or RF dropouts.
-
Device Hardware: Tried 3 different ZWP10 remotes to eliminate individual hardware defects. Installed fresh batteries on each.
-
Exclusion & Factory Resets: Performed hard factory resets on the remotes before every inclusion attempt, as well as performing an explicit Z-Wave Exclusion prior to including.
-
Wake-up Behavior:
-
Unlike reported in other posts, holding the
Selectbutton for 5 seconds does not keep this specific firmware (ZWPv4.2) permanently awake. -
Triple-clicking
IN/EXwakes it up briefly and moves the Command Class progress forward slightly, but it still doesn’t result in successful recognition.
-
-
Alternative Controller Software: Installed Silicon Labs Simplicity Studio 5 (Z-Wave PC Controller tool on Windows) using the same Aeotec stick. The inclusion also stalled JS.
-
Security Protocols: Attempted inclusion both via S0/S2 Security and explicitly forcing Non-Secure inclusion.
I am asking here, because I am contemplating buying new / different switches for my setup. But before I do that I want to ensure that I tried everything. Has anyone with ZWPv4.2 hardware gotten this remote to fully interview with Z-Wave JS or a modern Z-Wave 700/800 series stick? Is there a trick to keeping this specific PCB revision awake long enough to finish the interview, or is this an old Z-Wave S0/legacy frame handling incompatibility with newer controllers?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
