Has anyone successfully connected to a United Energy (Australia/Victoria) smart meter?

I am a newbee and trying hard to get my electricity smart meter connected to HA via Zigbee Home Automation Integration via a ConbeeII (by Phoscon) hub.

I found this resource: Request to connect an in-home device - United Energy

Which states I need to supply an Installation Code for the device. It would seem that Phoscon do not support release of the installation code.

If you have been able to use the united energy connection, can you let me know the zigbee device and HA integration you are using ?

If you have got it working with Zigbee Home Automation and ConbeeII any tips/guidance will eb much appreciated.

Thanks

Turns out that getting the installtion code for the conbeeII is extremely challenging. API calls etc. I fianlly got the code (it was printed on the box the conbeeII came in. Anyways United enery were unwilling to connect me, since the conbeeII was not on their approved list of devices. :-(. I am still keen to get help if anyone has had success. Cheers

Assumed as much, but I certainly was curious and considering trying. Thank you for trying…
If you wish to take it one step further by inputting all details as though you have a registered device, and (I’m not familiar with Conbee YMMV) fudging the MAC of your zigbee hub to using the same manufacturer ID as your approved device’s dedicated range(the first 3 hex digits are manufacturer specific, leaving the last 3 for the manufacturer to assign their devices). This tells us whether they’re using the MAC as the identifier, or the installation code but I suspect this is their auth mechanism portion.

Performing all of the above will answer the question too, it just won’t result in a working set-up until youhwve something capable of speaking Zigbee in the manner UE expects.

Isn’t it great timing that they render their API obsolete JUST before smart home integration kicks off…

Use a PowerPal (free) and a couple of ESP32s and you’ll have what you need.

If you insist on using zigbee, an Eagle 200 system has a documented local API which can easily be inferenced.

Personally, being in VIC, take the free cheap option - Local data reading under $20
