I’ve seen a few discussions about running Home Assistant or related local services on Android devices, and I’d like to open this up as a community discussion.
This isn’t a product pitch or a market survey. I’m mainly interested in hearing what people have actually built, tried, broken, or repurposed.
Examples:
- old Android phones used as Home Assistant helpers
- tablets as wall dashboards
- TV boxes or other Android devices running local automation or gateway-style services
- Termux / proot / rooted setups
- experiments that worked, and ones that didn’t
