Hassio on laptop with bluetooth presence - works some times?

I have installed Hassio on a laptop with Ubuntu. Everything works fine except presence detection which on my Pi worked flawlessly. On the laptop if I initialize a search of bluetooth devices Hass recognizes the presence correct, but then after some time it reports presence as away even though we are still right next to the laptop. So I would seem like the bluetooth on the laptop goes idle somehow.

Does anyone have similar experiences and if so could you solve it?

I have read multiple places that Hassio bluetooth presence only works on a Pi. That doesn’t make much sense since I can make it work sometimes?

I think this would depend on your os and it’s settings.
