Hi Myle

Could you answer these for me? >

  1. Which HA version are you trying to install?
  2. Could you give some details on your PC you are loading to?
  3. Are you installing to an internal HDD or a external (usb) HDD?

I would suggest the Hass.io version: https://github.com/home-assistant/hassos/releases/download/2.11/hassos_intel-nuc-2.11.img.gz

Hass.io image install instructions are here: https://www.home-assistant.io/hassio/installation/

I would suggest you install to an internal HDD. I would take the internal drive, put it in a USB case - and then use etcher to burn the Hass.io image straight onto the drive. Then I would take the drive out of the USB case and place it back in the PC.

Done!

It is pretty easy this way

  1. acer Aspire x1700 (MCP73T-AD) 2gig RAM

3 internal HDD 320gb lappie drive

didnโ€™t think of doing it this way.

DOING IT RIGHT NOW will get back

THANKS

done that Put a screen on it and all i see is a _ flashing. Harddrive light doing nothing

okโ€ฆ the PC running the hass.io software isnโ€™t really going to show you much.

I would use a mobile app like โ€œFingโ€ to find your hass.io serverโ€™s IP address. Then I would make that a permanent IP address by using the particular feature of your particular router.

Then I would use that IP address adding port 8123 on the end in a browser - from your laptop or the desktop you use. For eg:
http://192.168.86.20:8123/

Then you should get something!

So:

  1. confirm your server is on your network
  2. Identifiy its IP address
  3. Use :8123 to see how the installation went

Not all computers BIOS are the same

with the HDD with Hassio on it

I plug into my jukebox and everything booted up so happy with the HDD

now to work out why Acer wont boot that HDD and yet the Acer (MCP73T-AD motherboard) will boot wndows10 drive and the LIBREELEC with kodi the jukebox on it

THANKS @brendanheyu pointing down the right track.
