hastty – a terminal (TUI) dashboard for Home Assistant, mirrors your Lovelace views with keyboard shortcuts

I spend most of my day in a terminal, and opening a browser tab just to
toggle a light or run a scene always felt like unnecessary friction. So I
built hastty: a small TUI (terminal UI) that mirrors your existing
Lovelace dashboards and lets you control entities with the keyboard,
without leaving the terminal.

What it does

  • Mirrors your Lovelace dashboards — reuses the views and entities you
already built in the UI, nothing to configure separately. Works with both
the classic card-based dashboards and the newer “sections” layout.
  • Live state updates — subscribes to state_changed over the WebSocket
API, no polling, no manual refresh.
  • Keyboard-first — 1-9 to jump between views, arrows to move the
selection, Enter/Space to toggle a light/switch, run a scene or
    script, or trigger an automation.
  • Custom global shortcuts — bind any key to a specific service call
(e.g. one keypress for a “goodnight” scene) from a YAML config file.
  • Only needs a Long-Lived Access Token — no add-on, nothing to install
    on the HA side.
